[POSITION CLOSED] APAC Finance Controller

Publicly traded in the NYSE, our client is one of the largest service providers in the Oil & Gas industry.
 
 
Role Summary:
Based in Kuala Lumpur, this role is responsible to oversee the Finance Shared Service Center (SSC) in providing accounting, payroll, taxation and administrative services to operations and to apply corporate policies and procedures in a consistent format to those services, thereby ensuring the timely recording and integrity of the Company’s financial data.
 
 
Duties & Responsibilities:
·       Responsible for the full-cycle accounting functions for Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, India, Australia, Taiwan and others within APAC.
·       This includes managing, staffing and directing all accounting and financial reporting activities, including GL, AP, Cash Applications and Payroll Accounting. Conduct month/quarterly/annual closes in Oracle accounting systems.
·       Maintain review processes for the Company’s operations in these countries to ensure the accuracy of information, and that all internal control requirements are met.
·       Must possess strong reconciliation skills for high-volume and high-dollar accounts. Prepare and review all reconciliations for the department and verify accuracy and completeness of all financial assertions on the balance sheets.
·       Responsible for ensuring compliance with local tax and accounting regulations; and proper completion and filing for all required tax returns.

·       Maintain proper cash management for local operational requirements, while maximizing the Company’s cash centralization approach.

·       Must have expert familiarity with standard concepts, practices and procedures within the accounting field including an understanding of local GAAP, US GAAP and IFRS.

·       Assist in establishing, implementing, and monitoring of policies and procedures in order to support for accurate and timely reporting.
·       Assist with internal or external when required such as Financial, SOX, Compliance, tax, etc.). Review and note any issues with internal controls relevant to the SSC processes.

·       Assist operational management with financial information, budgets, FLASH (forecast), and other financial requests such as cost or revenue analysis.

·       Maintain close communications to Corporate Group Controller and Chief Accounting Officer in a timely manner, including information that assist management in decision-making.

·       Manage a team of Accountants in multiple countries and provide guidance and training to develop their skills.
·       Ability to multi-task in a high-volume environment, solid time management and leadership skills as well as strong reconciliation and research skills.



Required Experiences:
·     Candidate must possess at least Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, with significant years of related experiences in a Finance SSC environment. Possess certifications in CA/CPA certifications would be advantageous.
·     Strong people management skills across dispersed geographical locations and time zones.
·       Strong theoretical and practical application of local and US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
·       Demonstrated ability to multi-task in a high-volume environment; with strong time management, leadership as well as reconciliation and research skills.

·       Moderate to advance Excel skills are required and Oracle experience a plus.

·       Required to work overseas from time-to-time through visiting the other offices. Must be available to travel, up to 15% of the times.
